Canon U.S.A. (Lake Success, NY, www.canonusa.com) is now shipping the ultra compact XA10 Professional Camcorder. Specifically designed for situations in which camera mobility and low-light sensitivity are critical, the new Canon includes full HD 1080p video with AVCHD codec, a detachable handle for low-angle shooting, and infrared capture. Its other new features include a genuine Canon 10X HD Zoom lens with 8-blade iris, Canon’s DIGIC DV III Image Processor, the company’s 1/3-inch native 1920 x 1080 CMOS image sensor and a waveform monitor for the detailed analysis of image brightness. The compact camcorder also has a SuperRange Optical Inage Stabilizer and dual XLR inputs for external audio. The XA10 is scheduled to be available in March for an estimated retail price of $1999.99.
