Serif (Nottingham, UK, www.serif.com) recently named Leif Smith from Oregon as the grand prize winner of its International Digital Photography Competition for his image of a majestic California wave breaking. The 19-year-old college student beat out 18 other finalists after receiving the highest amount of votes on the Serif Web site. More than 5500 entries were received this year. Smith used a Nikon D60 with a 55mm-200mm lens to capture the image, which was taken near Bodega Bay, CA. Serif publishes award-winning software packages including PagePlus, PhotoPlus, DrawPlus, WebPlus, MoviePlus and CraftArtist.
