Here’s two ladies I admire more than they know. Meet Lindsey Thorne and Karen Seifert. Lindsey is my former studio manager, and Karen is currently manning the helm at the studio day to day. Their job descriptions have included not just studio manager, but as my assistant/second shooter for weddings and events, as well as maintenance crew, shoppers, stylists, website builders, photoshop gurus, and one person marketing teams to name a few jobs…. and not necessarily in that order. Both of them had very little experience when they started for me, but always had the courage to take on the challenges I threw at them. I’ve “grown up” with with these girls, and I’m for the better because of them. Sometimes we fell flat on our faces, but we always took the time to shake off the failure, regroup, and learn from the experience. I might also mention that they’ve also become talented photographers too! I don’t tell them often enough that I’m proud of them, and thank you! They visited me at my cubicle yesterday (which they had lots of fun laughing at me!) and I got to take them to lunch. It was so nice to spend some time chatting with them. After they left, I had a few emails in my inbox asking questions about WPPI’s print competitions:
Many of them were friends of mine expressing their fears of entering, which made think of Lindsey and Karen. These guys took on SO much, many times having NO idea what they were doing. Finding the courage to do something for fear of failing is such wasted time! I searched the interwebs this morning for a quote to inspire you guys to enter this years competitions. I love this one:
“Sometimes you gotta jump, just to see if you can fly!” -Miranda Lambert.
Get to work kids! Don’t be afraid of entering, we are all hear to grow together! The deadline is approaching, and if you have any questions you can email me anytime – jason dot groupp at nielsen dot com OR join the gang on facebook:
