Happy Valentines Day!

By // February 14, 2013 // Posted in WPPI News

We are all about hearts this year, and today is a day of celebrating the heart. Valentine’s day, as most of us know is a day in which lovers express their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering sweet treats, and of course sending greeting cards.

Although widely celebrated across the world, it’s origins are of Christian descent. Doing a little homework this morning, I did not know that Saint Valentine was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry. Imprisoned under the Roman Empire he is said to have healed the daughter of his jailer Asterius. Legend states that before his execution he wrote “from your Valentine” as a farewell to her.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you guys! I’m sure you won’t find it surprising that I found a new tie to celebrate the occasion.
