RF Wedding of the Week: A Frank Lloyd Wright Home Wedding by Clay Austin

By // August 28, 2013 // Posted in Photography, Rangefinder, Wedding, Wedding of the Week

One of the primary reasons we started Wedding of the Week was to find and showcase both established as well as emerging wedding photographers. In business a year and a half, Charleston, S.C.-based photographer Clay Austin fits that bill, and with that we share a colorful wedding he shot at Kentuck Knob, a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed house in the rural town of Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania.

The first time I walked up to the ceremony spot it was near impossible to not start singing ‘the hills are alive…’ and channel your inner Julie Andrews. Also, being a Frank Lloyd Wright estate, you couldn’t help but feel inspired by the sheer beauty of not only the house, but also the sculpture gardens that surround it. It’s not often that you get the chance to work with an English-style phone booth in the middle of a field. I also really loved working with the couple. They were incredibly kind and definitely shared an unmistakable love for each other.”

I had a client last year that made the boutonnieres out of sweet grass, which I loved!”
