Seattle-based photographer Andria Lindquist traveled all the way to the South Australian countryside to photograph the wedding of Esther and Levi in the small town of Strathalbyn (a few hours outside of Adelaide).
Lindquist says Esther found her work on Tumblr and as soon as they began corresponding, she says, “I knew I had to shoot this wedding.” So she flew down early and stayed at the couple’s house for a few days prior to the ceremony, hanging out with them, shopping, eating, going to the fair and documenting their story.
Esther and Levi have been together for years: they met in elementary school and were friends all throughout their schooling. After high school they realized how much they liked each other. Lindquist says the couple are “the best of friends. They remain in a group of friends that are always together. Even married, they live with his twin brother and go out to eat in groups all together.”
“The wedding took place at a family friends house; it was the doctor’s home in Strathalbyn way back in the day,” Lindquist says. “It’s a corner lot with gorgeous grounds. Just down the road is an old mill where we shot the couple’s portraits. It’s a quaint little town out in the middle of the country in Australia. Esther grew up in a town nearby.”
“It was a really mellow day,” Lindquist says. “Unlike American weddings, after the ceremony, it was just a simple dinner and then just hours mingling and talking. There were toasts and that ended the evening.”
Lindquist shot this wedding with two 5D Mark IIs. She used a variety of lenses: a Canon 24L, 35L, 50L, 45 T/S and 85L.
