More Photographers Join the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Effort

It’s now been just over a week since Typhoon Haiyan struck land in the Philippines, killing more than 3,600 people and affecting 9 million people in 44 provinces, 536 municipalities and 55 cities, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, as reported by CNN today.

In the aftermath of the deadly storm, many photographers are selflessly donating their services to aid in disaster relief, like Encarnacion Photography who we profiled earlier this week.

We’ve drummed up a longer list of other photographers and photo companies that are joining in to help the relief efforts:

  • According to NJ.com, New Jersey-based wedding photographer and videographer and owner of MPW, Glenn Maningas (who has family in the Philippines), “has organized a fundraising portrait-taking project that will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Liberty State Park in Jersey City and at Core Creek Park in Langhorne, Pa. For a $50 minimum donation, people can have a 30-minute photo shoot done by a professional photographer from his media group. Customers will receive 15 to 20 high-resolution downloadable digital prints. All proceeds from the event will go directly to a church in the hardest-hit area of the Philippines to assist local survivors.”
  • London-based fashion photographer John-Paul Pietrus (who is half Filipino) is donating proceeds from sales of a limited-edition print run, signed by the artist, of model Naomi Campbell to the Red Cross (specifically the Typhoon Haiyan Appeal).
  • The Canon Group is donating $100,000 to the relief effort.
  • Photographer (and one of RF’s 30 Rising Stars 2013) Chaz Cruz donated a 1-hour photo session to last night’s fund-raiser at Fat Buddah in NYC; the event raised $1725.
  • Leo Evidente Photographers is offering one-hour mini sessions, and 20-25 digital images for $150 with all proceeds donated to  relief effort. ShodaLove, Jack Ratana, Adele Cabanillas and Brian Furbush are all offering similar sessions.
