RF Wedding of the Week: Desert Nuptials By Hiram Trillo

By // July 30, 2014 // Posted in Photography, Wedding, Wedding of the Week

“It’s always a great honor and privilege to capture the wedding of fellow photographers,” says Hiram Trillo of recent subjects and photography duo Christy and Jasen Arias, owners of Studio Moirae in Phoenix, Arizona. “To have other photographers trust you with their special day is always humbling and nerve-wracking,” adds Trillo, a 2013 Rangefinder Rising Star of Wedding Photography and WPPI speaker.

Christy_Jasen_0089“I bore witness to a lot of raw emotion throughout the day, but one of the most emotional times was when the bride changed from her Fioré Couture gown to her mom’s wedding dress for the ceremony. (Christy’s mom passed away five years ago, so she redesigned her mom’s dress so that she could wear it during her own wedding ceremony.) This is why I shoot weddings, this is what I live for: to capture stories. I have never shot a wedding with competition in mind or with the hopes of getting it published; I shoot with that next generation in mind.”

His equipment included a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 6D; 16-25mm f/2.8 L, 50mm f/1.2 L and 70-200mm IS f/2.8 L lenses; and three Cheetah V850 lights, a Cheetahstand C10 and MagMod modifiers.

Christy_Jasen_0325Says the happy couple, who was inspired by “old Hollywood Glam” for their location and attire: “We chose Hiram because of his classic style that doesn’t date itself and because he sees and values the true emotion of what’s really happening at a wedding. We love that he doesn’t  focus on the ‘things’ but instead captures the connection and emotion of the day.

Christy_Jasen_0226“Hiram gives you space, time and allows true emotion to unfold in front of him. We knew that was what we wanted to remember and be present for. We knew that he would not only capture but give us permission to be ourselves.”
