We love to show a diversity of nuptials on Wedding of the Week, so when Brenda Pottinger of Pottinger Photography emailed me about Lauren and Tim, I jumped at the chance to feature this pair. Their vintage outfits, coupled with a simple décor and vegan menu, make for adorable summer-y shots at Devou Park in Covington, Kentucky.
Pottinger got to capture some personal artistic details in the wedding, thanks to Tim’s profession. “The groom paints murals and he is a wonderful artist,” Pottinger says. As it were, his artistry is how they first met: “Lauren’s friend recommended Tim to paint her house (even though he normally doesn’t paint houses). When he met her, he decided to paint her house and get to know her more!”
To capture the nuptials, Pottinger used a Nikon D4, D3, D700, D600 and lenses including a 24-70mm 2.8, 70-200mm 2.8, 105mm 2.8, 28mm 1.8 and 16mm fisheye 2.8. For lighting, she stuck to an SB700 flash and SB900 flash.
“One of the things that I loved most about the wedding was how relaxed everything was,” says the photographer. “It was so nice to see the two of them and their family enjoying their day. And when it came time for photos, they completely trusted my eye.”
Pottinger found different, greener scenery for photos of the couple before the big day. “Earlier in the week I had found a perfect spot for photos that was a little distance from their event,” says Pottinger. “But they both were more than willing to drive a bit to get the photo! The meadow with wild flowers was the perfect backdrop for these outdoor lovers and paired nicely with their vintage outfits!”
