Photokina 2014: Broncolor Hits the Lights with Siros Monolight

In the market for a new monolight? Bronocolor just rolled out a new series dubbed Siros that are definitely worth a look.

The Siros lights offer flash control up to nine f-stops and are capable of rapidly firing up to 50 flashes per second. Power output can be adjusted from a low of 2 Joules up to 400 or 800 Joules, depending on your model.

The 400 Joule version features charging times between .02 and .90 seconds and flash durations from 1/6500s to 1/8000s while the 800 Joule Siros offers durations from 1/4000s to 1/8000s. Both models sport a 300 Watt halogen modeling light and incorporate Broncolor’s ECTC technology for achieving consistent color temperature.

The Siros can be operated via a single rotary controller or Wi-Fi using the new bronControl app, which can control all aspects of the light from a mobile device. It can be triggered using Broncolor’s RFS2.1 radio system or its built-in PocketWizard receiver. You’ll also find a sync cable and photocell for additional sync options.

The Siros lights weigh in at about  7 pounds and require an external battery converter or AC power to operate.

Be patient: you’ll have to wait ’till January to wrap your hands around the Siros lights and as of press time, pricing has yet to be determined.
