Brooke Shaden Talks Photography with Jason Groupp [VIDEO]

By Laura Brauer

A few months ago while I was out in Seattle hanging with the Creative Live crew and some of its speakers for Photo Week, I had an opportunity to chat with Brooke Shaden.

I caught up with her while she was enjoying some time in the grass of a city park around the corner from the Creative Live studios. Brooke is one of those people who is so easy to talk to, and I’ve loved watching her journey over the last few years. Her approachable personality, and attitude puts anyone in the room at ease, however we did discuss how uncomfortable she is about being in large groups (which I found funny given some of the large rooms I’ve seen her speak in).

In this video, I asked her about getting started as a photographer, and I loved her answers. Her daily travels are about creating an environment that sets the stage for creativity, which is very inspiring to me—and I think will be to you too.

If you want to hear more from Brooke, you have the chance at WPPI this year! She is doing one of our new Photo Walks which should be AMAZING as well as a Platform presentation. Click the links below to see her classes:

Brooke Shaden Photo Walk on March 2nd @ 8:30 a.m.

Set Design: From Blank Space to Beautiful Images on March 3rd @ 4 p.m.

Also, a long belated thank you to the Creative Live crew for their hospitality, and asking me to join in on a “State of the Industry” discussion with Sue Bryce, Peter Hurley, Ben Sasso, Meg Rodney, and Andrew Funderburg. George Varanakis and Arlene Cohen were super hosts, and great friends—they’ve been so helpful over the last few year and I want them to know I appreciate it!
