There aren’t too many wedding venues that also happen to be bookstores, but that’s what’s glorious about Manhattan, and this wedding by New York City-based Stregoica Photography.

Held at the Housing Works Bookstore in SoHo, the couple—Anton and Elvira—”chose such a quirky location because they wanted to avoid the commercial feel of many traditional wedding halls and were looking for something ‘original with a character,'” says Dina, the principle photographer behind Stregoica.

“This one was one of the most fun and unique weddings I photographed and of course this was thanks to the couple,” Dina says. “They were full of giddy energy and at the same time relaxed—a rare combination. They happily agreed to the oddball locations I was suggesting, like a coffee shop in SoHo.”

Like most venues, Housing Works came with some dark lighting challenges, but Dina just used off-camera flash to bring out subjects and décor.

“I loved their cake; both the bride and the groom are avid hikers/rock climbers so they incorporated it into the cake,” says the photographer. “The reception was full of such personal touches, like their favorite books on the tables and favorite authors for place cards.”
