On Location in Savannah Shooting a Bride and Groom with Rick Ferro [RF Video of the Week]

May 22, 2015

By Laura Brauer

What’s great about our industry is that so many photographers are more than willing to share their knowledge and vision with the rest of us. Jacksonville, Florida-based wedding photographer Rick Ferro, a veteran shooter and educator who is also a longtime WPPI speaker and Print Comp judge, thrives on teaching others the art of capturing every moment of the wedding day. And after 40 years of shooting weddings, Ferro (who is a lead photographer with Disney photographic services) is truly an expert.

In this video, Ferro leads a workshop (sponsored by Phottix) of students in Savannah, Georgia, through several shooting moments, including some intriguing profile and portrait shots (with an emphasis on posing how-to’s and lighting solutions). He takes a lot of ring shots during the ceremony and offers different scenarios here, as well as different tried-and-true techniques on posing subject’s hands.

Ferro’s next workshop will be held at the West Coast School in San Diego, California, June 14-19.
