In August I told you about the free Full Platform Passes for all WPPI members, and now I’ve got even MORE exciting news for you: new #wppi2016 speakers! These educators have either never presented at WPPI, or haven’t done so in a long time. Either way, we welcome them with open arms!

I’ll kick things off with Johnson Wee. If you’re on the other side of the planet (Asia to be specific) or have looked at the winners’ galleries from the last several WPPI competitions, then you’re familiar with Johnson’s work. I had the privilege of traveling with him around several Asian cities, and he has been ENORMOUSLY helpful in bridging the language barrier for me. He has given his time in too many ways to name, and I can’t thank him enough.

I’m very excited that he’ll be speaking about how he comes up with his award-winning concepts, and where he finds the inspiration to create them. In the words of Jerry Ghionis as he spoke about one of Johnson’s images (above) during the WPPI 16×20 Print, Album and Filmmaking competition, “This is an image where you look at it, marvel at how creative it is, and then say to yourself, why didn’t I think of that?!” Johnson’s master class will be a treat, and if you’re looking to up your game in Print Comp, his class can’t be missed!

Keeping in line with great photographers who can help us see in a different way is Ashley Scobey. Ashley’s class, called “Getting There: A Field Guide to Following Your Dreams,” should be a great complement to Johnson’s class about following through and learning tactile ways to turn up our creative side.

And while we have our head in the clouds, there’s no one better than Ben Shirk when it comes to fantastical composites (like this one above). While not new to teaching, Ben joins us at WPPI in Las Vegas for the first time. He’s going to open up the vault on mind-blowing composites and give you simple guidelines that will explain key elements and details. If you’re looking to add a new layer (see what I did there?) to your imagery, Ben’s platform class is for you!

Bringing us back to earth, we have Jeff and Erin Youngren who will teach us “The Secrets to Discovering Your Ideal Client” in their Platform class. Jeff and Erin have a thriving business on the West Coast, and their energy is absolutely electric. They’ll share an in-depth curriculum that will help you find your ideal client so that your personal and professional fulfillment will increase and your business will profit. Jeff and Erin are WPPI regulars, but will join us on stage for the first time this year.

OK, that’s part one; stay tuned for part deux, coming soon!
