Zeiss Has New Lenses for Canon and Nikon Photographers

While we loved the Zeiss Otus 85mm we reviewed in PDN, we weren’t that enamored with its $4,500 price tag. With its new Milvus family of lenses for Canon and Nikon DSLRs, Zeiss is bringing the all-metal build and manual focus goodness from the Otus into a more affordable package.

There will be six new lenses in the “Milvus” family. Zeiss says they’re aimed at photographers using higher-resolution sensors and filmmakers shooting 4K (and higher) resolution video and high dynamic range content.

All the models will be sold in Nikon and Canon full frame mounts and they’ll be an adapter for Sony shooters too.

All will offer manual focusing, T* coatings, metal barrels, dust and splash resistance and metal lens hoods. The focus rings will have long rotation angles so you can really dial in and declicked apertures (ZF.2/Nikon mount only).

The lineup looks like this:

* 21mm f/2.8 for $1,843

* 35mm f2 for $1,177

* 50mm f/1.4 for $1,199

* 85mm f1.4 for $1,799

* 50mm f/2 for $1,283

* 100mm f/2 for $1,843

This video from Zeiss goes into a bit more detail.
