It’s an exciting day for us here at WPPI!
Over the last week, a group of about 40 of us have been waiting bated breath since our good friend Keda.Z Feng told us he was going to ask his longtime girlfriend Kelly Ng Sock Hui to marry him.
Spoiler alert: she said yes!
We don’t often feature wedding announcements on our website, but I felt it was appropriate just this once since so many of our readers know these two, and have been touched by their work. I’ve been fortunate to get to know Keda and Kelly; Keda was one of those photographers who instantly came on my radar when I started with WPPI, and was recognized for all the right reasons.
His tireless efforts to become a better photographer, and in turn his dedication to help others, has been apparent from the day I met him. His authentic personality and warmth can be felt through his never-ending travels across the globe as he photographs weddings and helps other photographers. While it sometimes seems like he lives in an airport, really his home is in Malaysia and he just makes us all feel like he’s our next-door neighbor.
I’ve been fortunate to get to travel to some fun places with the couple, and as much as I’ve grown to admire and respect Keda, Kelly is my favorite (sorry Keda!)—she is one of those people whose smile lights up a room.
Seriously though, as a couple, their impact on this industry has been tremendous. As I walked to work this morning, I realized I would need to charge my phone up due to all the notifications on Facebook! I smiled at the excitement for these two.
It also made me reflect, once again, on how lucky we are to have the careers we have. Most of the Rangefinder and WPPI audiences photograph events such as weddings, or family photos of some kind, celebrating and/or documenting a milestone in people’s lives.
How lucky are we? Our jobs celebrate the lives of others, and we get to be the ones to share it with them! All too often these days, our news feeds are filled with not-so-fun things, but we all stop to celebrate love.
Let’s take this weekend to remember that love conquers all.
(You can also go to Keda’s Facebook page and congratulate him!)
