Fundy Software is rolling out the most significant update to its Fundy Designer professional album building software in two years at WPPI 2016.

Fundy Designer 7.0 retains the ability to automate album building, but incorporates a few big changes. Among them: a faster and more elegant user interface, a redesigned Quick Design Picker, a new, professional image browser and organizer and increased memory optimization to improve the program’s performance handling large projects.

Like early versions, Designer 7 is built around technology that automates album building while giving the user control over the process.

The program’s UI now brings album designs closer to hand, so you can navigate between main albums and parent albums in a couple clicks. Access to albums, wall gallery designs and blog collages are all available now in the main interface.

The newly redesigned Quick Design Picker (below) is packed with over 100 new layout options based on photographer images.

The image browsing experience is also substantially upgraded with a new grid view, film strip view and a compare view that allows you to see the entire story of a shoot at any time during the design process. Images can be organized by keyword categories and ratings in Fundy Designer. The program also automatically imports tags created in other programs, including Lightroom, Photo Mechanic or Bridge.

Finally, Fundy made some changes under the hood that, they promise, will make the program “faster and more fluid.” Large projects won’t bog you down thanks to increased memory optimization.

Fundy Designer 7.0 is scheduled to be available at the end of April.
