When it comes to capturing the wedding day, seasoned shooters like the Callaways, of Callaway Gable in L.A., know that the key to a happy bride is delivering a range of images that tell the story of the day—and that includes honing in on the details.

“To highlight the veil, which was very important to my bride, Amanda, I placed her by the window and metered just below the max highlight to make the photograph more dramatic,” says Allison Callaway of her shot shown here, taken at the Four Season Resort The Biltmore in Santa Barbara. “I then asked her to turn to give her body more curve and purpose. I just love the motion in her veil as the light filters through it.” (Shot with a Canon 5D Mark III, 16-35mm f/2.8 II at 35mm, 1/500th of a second, ISO 320.)
