“I try to react to organic moments throughout the wedding day, and this is a recent favorite,” says Ireland-based wedding photographer Chris Copeland. Not only is it a genuine shot of an emotional Father of the Bride, but, the photographer adds, “everything in the frame draws my eye back to the bride’s dad.”

Taken in a bright, one story bungalow in Dublin, Ireland, Copeland says the location “lent itself perfectly to this natural moment.” Filled with window light, the space was an ideal size, he says—big enough to shoot wide and capture the bride’s reaction as she initially walked in to the room, but small enough so that he could comfortably move in and capture intimate moments like this one. This particular frame occurred as the bride was walking over to hug her dad. Copeland decided to position himself behind the bride because, he recalls, “I was really trying to get a sense of just how taken aback the Father of the Bride was. Her dad began to beam, and from there the tears just began to flow. I was lucky enough to capture a little slice of that emotion.”
