Like many Indian weddings, a Telugu ceremony is filled with many beautiful and spiritual rituals and customs. During one such custom, the groom ties a necklace, called a thaali, around the bride to represent the union of the couple (as seen here).

When we asked the photographer, Navdeep Soni, why he loves this photo, taken in Tirumala, India, he told Rangefinder that it’s the “authentic moment when the bride looks into the groom’s eyes as she enters from single woman to a married woman,” that captures his attention. Plus,  “it’s the right mix of movement and emotion.”

(Captured using a Nikon D700 and a NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4 lens.)
