Canada-based wedding photographer Gabe McClintock traveled to the Isle of Skye in Scotland to capture this intimate elopement on a rocky hill called Old Man Storr. While the landscape was meant to be beautiful and scenic, it also turned out to be the biggest challenge facing both the photographer and the couple on the wedding day, says McClintock. “It was a bit of a hike up to the point where this picture was made,” he says. “The bride hiked the whole 90-minute trip in her wedding dress.”

Once they found the perfect spot for portraits, though, all of the elements fell in to place. “The movement in her hair is my favorite part,” McClintock notes. “Capturing movement in a still image adds so much more feeling.” Plus, he says, the timing of the shoot is also perfect, hitting that sweet spot just before the sun drops behind the mountains. To him, the setting sun “gives the image a really soft and warm feel.”
