“There are times where you have to be a reactive photographer and capture the magic that exists, and then there are times where all you have to do is set the stage for magic to happen,” says WPPI Grand Master Jerry Ghionis, who set the stage to capture this play on the traditional bride and groom ‘reveal’ image before a recent ceremony.

“At this particular wedding, I thought I would try something different,” Ghionis says. He had noticed that there were three flower girls and one pageboy who had gotten prepped and ready separately and hadn’t met each other yet. So, says Ghionis, “I thought I would do a reveal of their first meeting.”

“I had a feeling I would get a great a reaction,” Ghionis says, “I struck gold! You can almost hear what the older girl on the left is thinking, ‘Gasp! OMG, there’s a little boy… I’m not sure if I like him!'”

(Shot using a Nikon D4s and a 70-200mm VRII lens at 105mm.)
