Adventure wedding photographer Charleton Churchill is no stranger to partnering with adventurous couples for daring and breathtaking photo shoots. Recently, he arranged a personal project in Alaska where he trekked across the icy terrain to capture an engagement shoot, and last year he was actually on Mt. Everest about to shoot a wedding when Nepal was struck with a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake (fortunately he and the couple were unharmed). Currently, he is preparing to show off his skills in December when he teaches the Adventure Wedding Photography Workshop in Lake Tahoe, and in March he plans to return to Mt. Everest base camp for yet another adventure wedding shoot.

This shot was taken on Yosemite’s famous Half Dome hike, a trail that Churchill says he’s climbed upwards of 40 times. The couple, who got married a day earlier in the Yosemite Valley, partook in a 17-mile round trip hike to the summit. They’re standing fairly close to the edge, but Churchill assures us they were safe. “Safety is my utmost concern,” he notes. “I personally escort the couple, sit with them and help find a comfortable spot. If they feel uneasy, we step back. I look at the placement of their feet, I make sure it’s not too windy, I check out the angle of the rocks, etc.” All in all, he notes, “The couple is comfortable holding each other in the wind and enjoying their epic photos.”
