“I love color. Bold, rich, bright, in-your-face color,” says fashion and portrait photographer Lindsay Adler. So it should come as no surprise, then, that, for a recent beauty editorial shoot with Elle Indonesia, the WPPI speaker delivered bold and colorful images that, she says, “distinctly represent my style.”

The portrait took only a few key pieces of equipment to capture, Adler notes. A single flash—the Profoto D1 Air 500 Watt strobe and a silver zoom reflector—lit the model’s face and, for color, the photographer used two color gels by Rosco to add the bright magenta and cool blue reflections. (For a behind the scenes glimpse at Adler’s process, check out this video.) “I didn’t need a lot of gear or specialized modifiers to create something truly eye-catching,” Adler says.
