If you’re in the business of scanning old images to make slideshows for clients with old family photos, new software from Vivid-Pix can help you save time processing and color-correcting those scanned images.

2Screen-Shot-Restore

Dubbed RESTORE, the software applies a number of color correction and sharpening algorithms to old, faded prints and slide images after they’ve been scanned into your PC. These fixes are applied instantly, whenever you import an image into the program.

Rather than make a single correction, the software generates nine corrected versions of your original scan with varying degrees of contrast applied so you can choose the one which works best for you. Each set of automated corrections has a set of presets tailored to the type of file you’re restoring–prints, slide film, etc.

After you’ve made your selection, you can make further tweaks to the image using slider-based tools for lightness, contrast and color if you want to fine tune your corrections. You can also crop your corrected file.

The software works on both JPEG and TIFF scans and automatically saves a copy with the changes applied in a separate folder so that your original scan remains unaltered. You can choose the folder you want to save your corrected files.

RESTORE is available for Windows PCs for $80.
