The tech world loves nothing more than “convergence” and imaging software is no exception. Over the past several years, photo editors have been bulking up their organizing tools, while software titles that have been primarily built around organizing have been steadily building out their editing capabilities. Zoner has always had a foot in both camps with its Windows-based Photo Studio and the new version keeps the tradition alive with new editing tools and a few new organizational features as well.

Non-destructive layered editing is supported with a new file type (.ZPS) for saving and returning to later.

The new edition, dubbed ZPS X, adds layered editing, non-destructive gradient filters and new organizational tools.

The software now offers a Create module so you can build and order print products like photo books, canvas prints and calendars from inside ZPS X. Inside the Create module you can also build collages, print images locally on your own printer and build video presentations and timelapse videos from your photos.

The layered editor has been bulked up with the introduction of a new file format (.ZPS) that lets you save a layered image and return to it later for additional edits.

The Develop module gets a new Dehaze slider similar to the one implemented by Lightroom and DxO plus a new Gradient Filter for targeted non-destructive exposure editing. You can also use a variety of filters non-destructively on your photos to adjust their colors, exposure, saturation, and more. A new advanced Perspective tool lets you straighten perspective problems (also non-destructively).

The software’s Catalog system has been updated with a location search. There’s also new integration with Google Disk, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox and Facebook too so you can browse images on other platforms from within the software.

ZPS X is available for a yearly subscription of $95.88 or less if you’re upgrading.  You can kick the tires with a 30-day free trial before you buy it. You can get a more in-depth overview of the new capabilities in the video below.
