Los Angeles-based photographer Alexa Gallo of Bright Bird Photography normally doesn’t encourage her couples to wear sunglasses while taking portraits, “but in this case, it just made so much sense,” she says regarding this retro-styled bride and groom session. According to Gallo, the couple was a little shy in front of the camera, but with their faces masked by the stylish shades, “they looked amazing and it really helped them feel more relaxed.”

The location of the shoot also held special meaning, Gallo says. The bride and groom chose to take their portraits on the bride’s grandfather’s street in Long Beach, California. “She grew up visiting and playing here when she was a little girl,” Gallo says. “It had a lot of sentimental value, making this both a beautiful and meaningful shoot.”
