When Cinzia Bruschini got this couple’s inquiry for her to shoot their wedding, her immediate thought was that it would be a challenge, says the London-based photographer. “First,” she asserts, “I am definitely not a ‘mountain person.’ I feel more confident shooting on locations such as villas or castles. But, of course, the idea of a wedding in the Dolomites excited me.”
Luckily, this couple was planning for a September wedding in the northern Italian mountain range, so, as Bruschini puts it, “the weather was merciful.” With the ceremony at noon on a mountaintop, even while the sun was out, “it wasn’t so hard, and we were able to manage pretty well shadows and highlights.”
Afterward the wedding party had an outdoor lunch nearby, and around 3 p.m., everyone got ready for the rest of the evening at their hotel, a luxury hotel in Alta Badia called Relais & Châteaux Rosa Alpina. Dinner took place at the Michelin-starred Restaurant St. Hubertus. Bruschini credits Lake Como Wedding Planner for making everything go smoothly and making sure the logistics were set.
“While all the crew was cooking, guests were invited to attend the food process in the kitchen room with a couple of musicians playing around the chefs,” Bruschini says. “The jewel in the crown was the amazing wedding dress by Emilia Wickstead. The bride looked like a snow princess or something similar, and her elegance was beyond question.”
