It was a true blending of languages and cultures that made this joyous moment possible. The bride, Filipa, is Portuguese and the groom, Vinay, is Indian. The couple lives together in London, but their Hindu wedding took place at a monastery in Sintra, a small city about 30 minutes away from the capital of Portugal, says photographer Hugo Coelho.
This shot was made just after the newlyweds took their vows. “The bride was trying to read them in Hindi—it was an amazing moment,” Coelho recalls. And what makes the final frame extra special, he notes, is “the way this shot captures not only the bride and groom, but also hints at other people in the room sharing this happy moment with them.”
