Rangefinder (Rf) is the award-winning monthly magazine for wedding and portrait photographers, and the official publication of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). We strive to present the most creative, inspiring and innovative work, trends and gear (including product roundups) for an international readership of professional photographers.
Our blog, PhotoForward, provides even more coverage of these areas, plus our regularly posted online features:
RF Wedding of the Week (check out the “Top 10 RF Weddings of the Week 2014“)
RF Video of the Week
Rangefinder hosts the 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography competition every year. Photographers who’ve been in business full time for 5 years or less are nominated by the editors of Rangefinder and other industry tastemakers, and a final 30 photographers are designated, their work to appear in the November 30 Rising Stars of Wedding Photography Issue. The Rising Stars are chosen for their exceeding talent, as well as their spark for directing the industry to new, exciting heights. See our list of 2014 Rising Stars, and the accompanying online gallery of their work.
Rangefinder magazine—which offers a FREE subscription to the monthly print and digital editions—is under the PHOTO+ umbrella, owned by Emerald Expositions and also home to reputable photography media including Photo District News, PDNedu, Shutterlove and The PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo.
Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) was founded in 1978 to serve the needs of wedding photographers, then known as the “weekend warriors” – an often neglected segment of the industry. Since our first convention and trade show in 1980, we have grown into one of the largest events in the trade. WPPI 2014 drew over 12,000 attendees and 350 exhibitors and embrace photographers from all genres, including portraiture, fine art, photojournalism, commercial, video and advertising.
The WPPI values and ecosystem are built on the premise of developing one’s mind, body, and soul through the lens of photography and filmmaking. Our conferences, events and contests are meant to promote growth and a community in which members learn from each other.
